This is the sermon for yet another start to the season of Lent, meditating on what it means when we say “Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return”. This is not just a morbid statement, but a statement of all that God can do, even with the likes of dust; even with the likes of us!!
Today’s sermon considers the story of the Transfiguration (big churchy word for Jesus revealing the glory of God that had been within Him all along) AND places that story alongside Jesus’ lesson RIGHT BEFORE THIS about what it means to be a disciple. It is a hard lesson, and a mountaintop moment. How do we hold those two things together in life?
This year’s Youth Sunday focuses on the theme of maturity, becoming an adult and growing up in our faith—something all of us are working on every day in our journeys.
