Worship at Christ Our Anchor is characterized by a variety of styles, patterns and opportunities. CURRRENTLY WE GATHER FOR ONE BLENDED WORSHIP SERVICE AT 10:00 AM. On the first Sunday of the month, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper, a table that is open to all.
(Pre-Covid, our church gathered in two services: the Traditional service (9:30) and a Contemporary service (11:00) and we pray we may be able to return to that as more people join our in-person services)
During the course of the year we also gather for special moments in the life of the community, such as, Holy Week, Veterans Day service, Maundy Thursday and other opportunities to gather as the people of God.
During our Sunday Services, there is ample opportunity for the inclusion of children and youth. We also provide the opportunity for the community to express its concerns, joys and celebrations of life so that we can nurture and care for each other as a faithful gathering of God’s people.
MUSIC AT CHRIST OUR ANCHOR Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands!
Whether you sing, play an instrument or just clap your hands, all are invited to make a ‘joyful noise’ at Christ Our Anchor! COA has several ways to participate musically in worship.
- The Sanctuary Choir is a dedicated group of individuals that come week to sing for the glory of the Lord. The choir participates on Sunday mornings from September through June. We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30 PM. We welcome anyone from 6th grade to adults who enjoy singing and would like to make that ‘joyful noise.’ During the summer months, individuals or small ensembles (both vocal and instrumental) perform on Sundays.
- The Handbell Choir is a small group of ringers with a big sound! The choir plays about every 6 weeks or so, and invites adults and youth in grades 6 and up to join us. You do not need to be able to read music to play – another chance to make a ‘joyful noise!’ The bells rehearse on Thursdays from 6:00-6:45 PM during the school year.
If you are interested in participating in the Sanctuary Choir, the Handbell Choir or are just interested in sharing your talents, please contact Diana Martin, Music Director, at 410-703-2208 (cell), 410-757-0113 (home) or msdsmartin@aol.com.
- Praise Band : The Worship team, led by the Contemporary Music Leader, Chris Kefer, is a group of volunteers that assemble to provide praise and worship music. They provide full band accompaniment with vocals for contemporary Christian popular music as well as contemporary arrangements of traditional hymns to directly support the service and Pastor’s message. They usually practice at 7PM on Wednesdays.
