Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church is a member of the Baltimore Presbytery. The Presbytery consists of 68 congregations in central and western Maryland, and more than 16,000 parishioners. Administratively, the national Presbyterian Church USA is organized into 172 presbyteries which are grouped into 16 synods. The Presbytery of Baltimore is part of the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic, located in Richmond, VA. In turn, every church in every presbytery is governed by its own “session” which is a group of “elders” who, with their pastor, serve as the leaders of the congregation. Elders are elected by the congregation for three-year terms.
