This week instead of a typical sermon, a group of us did a skit as an object lesson of how we try so hard to appear “fine”
and carry our own burdens, and could lighten our loads if we took the risk of trusting God more to carry them.
October 2, 2016: Connecting the Dots PART 1…Faith And My Body / Health
This month we kick off a new sermon series for stewardship month (or what we are calling Connections Month) where we “connect the dots” between faith and elements of our real lives that we might be tempted to compartmentalize away from God and church. This week we begin with the closest thing to us: our bodies. What does our faith believe about our bodies? How can we use them to glorify God? How can faith fuel us towards better health of mind, BODY and spirit?

This sermon considers what Jesus had to say about divisions in our society, how money plays a role (and doesn’t) and what we might do to bridge the divides.
SEPT 18, 2016: “Learning from Teenage Jesus”
This sermon explores the only story we have in the Bible about Jesus between child and adult—even then He did not do what we would expect. And we can learn from Him, even as a teenager!

This sermon made use of Psalm 137 (a raw and brutally honest Psalm about enemies) and Jesus’ teaching on loving our enemies to think through the impacts of 9/11 on our country in the 15 years since that terrible day. The service included a time of remembrance and solemn heartfelt prayer.
