Eight members of the COA adult mission team worked hard during the week of March 12 – 16 to help Joaquin and Bunny of Ponchatoula, LA get much closer to moving out of their FEMA trailer and into their double wide trailer which was badly damaged during 2 floods in 2016. The team worked with the Fuller Center for Housing and performed a wide variety of tasks including door installation, trimming and caulking around doors
and windows, painting doors and trim, installing subflooring, laying tile floors, installing cabinets and assisting with plumbing the entire trailer. Two construction supervisors from the local area worked with our team providing guidance, tools and materials for the job. Joaquin was very
helpful and cleaned up after us which allowed us to spend more time doing the more technical jobs.
Those making the journey to Louisiana were Tom Rorick, Frank Cain, Terry Delprete and Mike and Joan Henderson from COA as well as Steve and Dotty Sellers from the Paxton UM Church in Harrisburg, PA and Glynn Rountree from Harrisonburg, VA. There is still much to do in this area and our team plans to return around the same time next year. We hope some of you will be able to join in the fun.
