A Tenebrae Service of Worship reading of the Passion Narrative, the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, and dimming of the lights.
Join us for this youth-led event to bring people and animals together and thank God for the blessing of the animals in our lives. They are a part of our families! You will receive a prayer for your pet written by our church’s youth group and have the chance to meet other animal lovers in our community. Drop by any time between 3:00 and 5:00 PM at Christ Our Anchor for this exciting and faith-filled time together.
Join Pastor Jessie and other church members for an informal book study and discussion throughout the season of Lent based on the book Forgiveness by Marjorie J. Thompson. This is an important theme during this season, and we will think together about what forgiveness looks like in ourselves, our families, and in our divided world. We will be meeting on Tuesday mornings (between 3/12 and 4/16 from 6:45-7:45 AM in hopes that some of you can join us before work. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COME EVERY WEEK TO PARTICIPATE. Please RSVP to Pastor Jessie at firstname.lastname@example.org so she can order enough copies of the book.
Presentation on 2/26-6:30-8:30 pm: De-Escalation in Crisis Mission Committee would like to invite you (and any interested community members) to a special presentation by Officer Steve Thomas focused on de-escalation and interaction tips for folks in our community who may be dealing with behavioral or mental health concerns. Officer Thomas is an Anne Arundel County Police Officer who is trained as part of their Crisis Intervention Team to deal sensitively with mental health episodes. Instead of reacting in fear, let’s learn how to be proactive with love and compassion and research-based techniques. All are welcome, but RSVPs are appreciated. Movie Night for the Soul: Friday 3/15 at 7:00 pm
COA is excited to host a movie night with a film that is both humorous, but also extremely
spiritual and thought-provoking called “Henry Poole is Here”. We would like to ask people to bring various kinds of popcorn (especially the “gourmet” kind!), and a time for discussion will follow the film. Please note: because the film has some mature themes, this is an event geared towards 6th grade and older, but ALL ARE WELCOME!!
