DURING COVID-19, our local chapter of community organizers called ACT (Anne Arundel Connecting Together) has been busier than ever….
Spotlight: Feed Anne Arundel (link here)
#FeedAnneArundel is a partnership of local restaurants, the Anne Arundel County Partnership for Children, Youth & Families and ACT – Anne Arundel Connecting Together, an organization of faith and non-profit community institutions that have the combined goal to cooperatively address financial instability in the local food industry and food insecurity during this crisis of COVID-19.
This County-wide collaborative has is providing meals to those who need it most at existing County food distribution sites and is sustaining pay for local employees that were previously laid off. Feed Anne Arundel’s goal is to donate as many as 10,000 packaged dishes per week, but this all depends on donations and funding. Every $1,000 raised pays for 100 meals and puts 10 people back to work.
Your help is needed today to support our neighbors most in need and our local economy.
Anne Arundel Connecting Together is the local affiliate of a larger organization called the Industrial Area Foundation which is the nation’s largest and longest-standing network of local faith and community-based organizations. Find out more by visiting it’s website, here.
Some COA members attended its launch meeting on October 4th, 2018. We were just a small group in a mighty crowd of over 1100 people. The messages and the overall movement is inspiring. See some of the photos here.
